A former Virginia high school volleyball coach was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old female player on her team, police said Monday.
Elisabeth R. Bredemeier, 21, who also hosts a podcast titled “Let’s Talk Trauma,” was reported to police by the victim’s family after the alleged assaults that took place off school grounds, police and sources told WRIC.
Bredemeier coached the teen at Richmond Christian School. The school told the news outlet in a statement that she no longer works there, though it wasn’t immediately clear when she left or under what circumstances.
“We are deeply disturbed by the allegations; we take these developments and their potential impact on our community very seriously; and we are cooperating with authorities,” the school said in its statement.
“Child safety, education and development are paramount here at RCS,” the statement said.
Police charged Bredemeier taking indecent liberties with a child by custodian and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Bredemeier’s podcast, which is available on Apple, “is meant to be an open space to talk about and listen to people’s traumatic experiences,” according to its description.
