The Snoopy Bowl is back.
After the preseason being canceled last year because of COVID-19, the Jets and Giants will square off. Whenever these two teams play, there is no shortage of interesting moments.
The last time these two teams faced each other in the preseason was in 2019 when the Giants won 31-22.
In that game, Daniel Jones made his NFL debut and shredded the Jets’ defense on his first and only drive. Jones finished the drive going a perfect 5-for-5 for 67 yards and a touchdown.
Things have changed drastically for both teams. The Jets have a new head coach in Robert Saleh and Joe Judge is in his second season leading the Giants. The Jets also have a new quarterback in Zach Wilson.
Both squads will be evaluating players to see who should stay on their 53-man rosters. Here’s how you can watch the action:
How to watch Jets-Giants Preseason Game 1
The preseason opener for both New York teams will be televised on NBC 4 NY. It will also be streamed on Fubo.tv, which offers a free seven-day trial. It will also be available on the NBC Sports App.
Odds for Jets-Giants Preseason Game
According to BetMGM, the Giants open up as one-point underdogs. If you want to bet the money line on them, their value is at +100. Meanwhile, the Jets are -120.
Injury Report and playing time
For the Giants, they will be without Saquon Barkley, who was ruled out last week by Judge as he recovers from an ACL injury that he suffered in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears last season. The Giants’ new free-agency addition, Kenny Golladay — who suffered a hamstring injury last week —, has been limited in practice and is unlikely to play. On Thursday, the team also announced that Daniel Jones won’t play.
Judge has claimed that he will treat this game similarly to a fourth preseason game. That means it will mostly be players on the roster bubble playing so that he can evaluate. The starters will see the most action in the final preseason game and play about a half.
Jets fans should be excited to get their first glimpse of Zach Wilson, the first time that the young QB will play against a team that’s not his own.
Following the game, the Jets will return to practices for the week before jetting off to Green Bay to take on the Packers on Saturday, Aug, 22. Then, they finish the preseason against the Eagles on Aug. 27.
After Saturday night’s game, the Giants will travel to take on the Browns on Saturday, Aug, 22. They’ll wrap up the preseason against the Patriots on Aug. 29.
